Consigning Women first opened in 1989 in the Avondale Neighborhood of Charleston, South Carolina. One of the first consignment shops in the area, it quickly became the go-to place for women to consign and shop. In 1994, Ann Gadsden Shimer purchased the business and set about to liven it up.
With her boundless energy and easy-going personality, she was able to transform it into the favorite consignment destination for the women of Charleston, Mount Pleasant, James Island, Johns Island, Kiawah and Seabrook Islands. In 2010, Ann opened Consigning Women and Men in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina offering both womens and mens consignments. Ann sold the Avondale location in 2015.
